vanessa adrianna d’amore
GENERALLY CONFIDENT. OPTIMISTIC. FEMINIST. FIGHTER. LOGICAL. MOTHERLY.
NICKNAMES:
Van, Nessa, Ness, Nessie (although I wouldn’t recommend that one)
AGE:
twenty
SPECIES:
human. safest thing to be these days
OCCUPATION:
slayer
PLAY BY:
Jessica Lowndes
ORIENTATION & STATUS:
straight ‘n’ single[/blockquote]
RESPONSIBLE. SAFETY CONSCIOUS. BRAVE. BAD LIAR. FRIENDLY TO MOST. TRUSTING.
LIKES:
ice cream, her job, shopping, horse-riding, pizza, Rosepetal Falls, new recruits, feeling safe in town now the slayers are in control, weapons training, proving her worth.
DISLIKES:
vampires, werewolves, politics, mushrooms, rats, spiders, being ill, wrinkles, having that prison so close to town, stupid sexist lieutenants (you know who I’m talking about).
STRENGTHS:
Vanessa’s biggest strength is her logic. unlike a lot of other slayers, she will think long and hard about a plan before rushing in and getting everyone killed. she’s not a wimp, she won’t stop a plan just because its dangerous, but she will take a little extra time to make sure everything in the plan is perfect. her second strength is quite linked to that actually. she’s brave, and a born fighter, willing to kill if she has to, which makes her a damn good slayer. Vanessa also has a strong motherly instinct, particularly over the new recruits. she can mentor them, offer them a friendly ear to moan to. it means she has quite a good relationship with a lot of her comrades which is very useful in a job like this.
WEAKNESSES:
she can be too trusting, especially if the person in question reaches out to her. she wants to help people, which can make her vulnerable to sneak attacks. she’s also a terrible liar. it doesn’t cause problems very often, but it can make wiggling out of tricky situations very difficult. and finally, she can get a little over defensive when it comes to demeaning women, and this can certainly cause a problem in her job. her commanding officer is known for being a bit of a sexist, and though Vanessa is one of the best on the team, he refuses to let her work, always keeping her behind and asking her to make the coffee, and it’s all she can do to stop from lifting her gun and shooting the damn jerks head off!
FEARS:
it may seem a bit stupid when she’s out there fighting those supernatural creatures that have killed millions of humans over the centuries, but Vanessa is really quite scared of spiders. not to the extent that she’ll run screaming from the room if there’s one around, but enough to make her squeak and avoid the spider’s immediate vicinity.
SECRETS:
she tries not to let anyone know about her fear of spiders, the boys would tease her to no end about that. but no, her main secret is her sister. Vanessa has a sister called Dakota, and a little while ago, she was attacked by a vampire. Vanessa was on duty at the time and obviously tried to attack the vampire but she missed (she was new, didn’t have enough experience with the weapons) and the vampire got away, taking Dakota with it. she reported back that the vampire had killed her sister, but it’s not quite as simple as that. because the vampire didn’t just bite Dakota. by the time Vanessa reached them, the vampire was already feeding its own blood back to Dakota: it was changing her. the family don’t know about it, and she’d lose her job if her superiors found out, so if all goes well, it’s a secret she’ll take to the grave.
