SPECIES SPEC!

Everyone has a different view of what a werewolf or a vampire should be like, and Heartache Tonight is no exception. Below are the specifications for our species. If your character doesn't follow these, there will be trouble...

Vampires

• A vampire is an immortal human who must drink blood. They are unnaturally beautiful, and built to seduce their prey in every way.
  
• All vampires MUST have red eyes, which go darker as the vampire's thirst increases.
  
• They can drink and survive on both human and animal blood. If a vampire only drinks animal blood they will be much weaker than a vampire who only drinks human blood. Human blood is also much more enticing, and weak vampires will find the scent almost irresistable.
  
• Vampires NEED blood to survive. If they are starved, they will get weaker and more desperate, and will do anything to get at any kind of blood. Most starved vampires go insane in their desperation. It's been said that the worst sound in the world is a starved vampire.
  
• Vampires can eat and drink human food as well, but they can't live off just that. It also doesn't taste of anything to them.
  
• Drugs and alcohol have the same effect on a vampire as they would on a human, but it usually takes more of the product to intoxicate a vampire than it would a human.
  
• Vampires can only be made by a vampire draining the body of a human to the point of death, and then feeding the human with its own blood. The transformation is painful and lasts a few hours, as the human's body literally dies before becoming a vampire.
  
• They can be any age, since all vampires are immortal and don't age and die. However it is rare to find someone who has been a vampire for less than ten years (due to the Slayers taking control, making it much more difficult to successfully turn a human without getting caught) or for more than two thousand years (since something will most likely have killed them during this time, or they may even have killed themselves). It's not impossible to find vampires outside of this age range, but it is rare, so bare that in mind when you're deciding the age of your character.
  
• Vampires do not sparkle.
  
• These vampires do not need to be invited into someone's house, they can come and go of their own accord.
  
• Out of all the myths, vampires can only be killed by a stake throught the heart, fire and sunlight. Nothing else. Garlic, holy water, crucifixes, they don't work. Although vampires do dislike garlic, it can't kill them.
  
• Vampires WILL die if they go out in sunlight. Their skin will burn and if they are not out of the sunlight within ten minutes, they will die. Fire has the same effect, it will burn them up very quickly.
  
• Normal weapons cannot kill a vampire, but some slayer weapons can paralyze them. Their weapons can also knock vampires unconscious.
  

Werewolves

• A werewolf is a human who transforms into a wolf every full moon.
  
• All werewolves MUST have yellow eyes, whether they're in their human or wolf form.
  
• Werewolves MUST transform on a full moon. Nothing can prevent this from happening.
  
• The transformation is painful, going from human to wolf AND wolf to human.
  
• The wolf form has a mind of its own. Whilst in wolf form, the human personality is gone and the wolf controls all the actions. This means that in wolf form, a werewolf may kill its best friend or its family without realising it.
  
• Older werewolves can start to have control over their wolf form, but it is limited.
  
• Werewolves can only be made by a human being bitten by a werewolf whilst in its wolf form. If a werewolf bites someone as a human, it will have no effect, and if the werewolf only scratches a human, whether in wolf or human form, it won't have an effect either. The bite needs to be deep enough for the werewolf venom to get into the bloodstream.
  
• Werewolves age slower than humans. It's about half the rate, so for every two years that pass, a werewolf ages one year. This starts from the day they are bitten.
  
• Whilst in human form, werewolves heal a lot faster than humans and are generally more athletic than most humans. Occasionally their wolf instincts might peek through, especially in times of danger.
  
• Their weakness is silver. A silver dagger, a silver bullet, any silver weapon can kill a werewolf. The wound caused by the silver weapon will not heal, unlike all other wounds, which is why it can kill them.
  

Slayers

• A Slayer is a human who is a member of the League for the Destruction of Supernatural Creatures and the Protection of the Human Race (LDSC). It is their sworn duty to fight against the Supernaturals.
  
• All Slayers MUST be human. They'd know if a vampire or werewolf tried to become one of them.
  
• There is a hierarchy within the LDSC, similar to that of the army. All Slayers have a rank. To see the hierarchy and sign up your character, click HERE. This will also tell you which jobs are taken up, and which ones are still available (just look at the numbers in brackets next to each title).
  
• Not all Slayers have weapons and go out to kill the Supernaturals. Some of them are scientists, coming up with new weapons, or antidotes to vampire venom or a wolf bite. All the different jobs can been seen on the hierarchy.
  
• Not all Slayers enjoy their job. Some do it purely to get the weapons and protect their family. Some are pressured into it.
  
• If a Slayer is accidentally changed into a Supernatural, they WILL be killed by other Slayers. There are no exceptions: as soon as a Slayer is changed they become an enemy of the LDSC, never mind what position they had before they were changed. The Supernaturals are also very unlikely to accept the Slayer once they've been changed: they hold grudges.
  

Humans

• A human is a homosapien, evolved from monkeys to form what we are today. They are the root of all other species.
  
• Not all humans have to be slayers. It's just a career they can go into.
  
• Humans are literally just that: human. They have no special abilities and they don't have an unusual appearance. They're just the same as you and I.
  
• If a human strays too close to the Old Prison without a Slayer weapon, they will probably get killed. The vampires wouldn't pass up on a meal delivered straight to their door.
