”The light in darkness, Breathing hope of new Life!”--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------=========================== Annie raised the gun as the targets ahead of her popped up. She squeezed the trigger, sending a 9mm bullet hurtling towards the target. Before it even had time to hit the target, Annie squeezed out two more shots. The bangs echoed around the room, and the flashes made Annie blink, but she didn't mind. Her eyes were covered with the protective goggles and a pair of ear muffs were over her ears to protect her from the noise. She had been here for some time, prefering to train than to sit around bored, waiting for her next shift. She made a mental note to pick up a new book in town next time she went.
Annie had a perfect stance for gun training, with her arms locked out straight and her back straight. And with her white tank top and blue jeans, she looked... werid, like she was the last person you'd expect to have that sort of stance. Her hair was tied back into a messy bun so it wouldn't get in her face and blind her. She focused on the bullets and where they were going.
With a few more shots, the targets disappeared and Annie lowered the gun to change the clip to a full one. She sighed as she did so, making sure the safety was on so she wouldn't shoot the table, like she had done in the past, when she'd started out with guns. Her father had taught her about guns and her mother had taught her how to fight. The thing is, Annie didn't want to be a Slayer, and sometimes thought it was a waste of time training. But she kept at it, not wanting to shame her parents by walking away from what she is. It would humiliate them, and she didn't want that, she never wanted that. So, she stuck at it, training with her guns and her fighting, making sure she was fit and healthy, so the vampires had a fight on their hands if she ever got into a fight with them.
Annie was fast, but not as fast as a vampire, but she could draw and fire a gun in under seven seconds, something a few Slayers could do. But she was proud of herself in a way, training herself meant she would be able to fight of the vampires when it came to it, when a loved one was in trouble, well, it would always be family that might be in trouble. Annie had dated in the past, but she'd never had a boyfriend that she loved truely. She'd had a few in the past, and had even managed to have sex, but when it came to love, she'd never tapped it, never felt it, and in this line of work, where one of her friends seem to die each months, you couldn't have a serious relationship. Well, you probably could, but Annie found it hard. And she'd hardly seen some cute Slayer guys, and all of them had had a girl on each arm, them begging for his attention.
Annie sighed as she reloaded the gun and raised it again before dropping one of her hands from the gun to press a button on the side of her booth that activated the targets. Annie quickly replaced her hand on the gun and fired off some rounds, focusing on her gun and where the bullets were going. If someone managed to frighten her, she could shoot them! She swallowed as she fired off more rounds, emptying her clip, her eyes blinking each time at the flashes. She could hear the dim bangs off the gun going off, but she didn't focus on these things, only on her hands, the gun and the targets.

Matt entered the training room, he stopped to pick a gun to train with, he'd never really held one in his hand fore, or looked at one. The were kind of beautiful, in an incredibly scary way, that coldness of the gun felt nice to him, it wasn't uncomfortable. Usually when he was on his shift, he'd just put the gun in his holster and never look at it again until the end of his shift.
He'd never even been in the training room before, not for more that 10 seconds anyway, the sounds of the gunshots made him feel so out of place. He picked up a pair of goggles and ear muffs to block out the sound. The gun was quite light, it made him feel better that he wasn't carrying a big guns, he hated big guns, he thought you might as well carry a sign saying "Hey I'm a slayer, come and get me supernatural beings".
Hehe maybe you should bring the gun with you for the next time your mum comes around Matt had to laugh at the voice in his head, he hated his mum, he didn't know anyone who didn't, apart from maybe John his brother. She was just too stuck up, you could be in her company for two seconds and you'd want to kill her.
He wasn't exactly dressed for shooting targets, he had a pair of skinny jeans on, a white Sid vicious t-shirt on with a black waist coat over that. He walked over to a booth but on his goggles and headphones, pressed a button for the targets to begin popping up. He aimed his gun and shot as soon as the first target popped up. He hit it straight in the centre of the target. He felt a little better about the whole thing, he guessed getting it right in the middle was a good thing.
He took a moment to admire his gun, and the force behind it. It was quite powerful, he became quite excited about the thing he held in his hand. The targets stopped moving around now, he'd admired the gun for a little too long. He smiled to himself, maybe he was better than anyone ever thought he would be.

”The light in darkness, Breathing hope of new Life!”--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------=========================== Annie didn't even notice Matt come in, let alone see who it was. She was too focused on her gun and the amount of power in her hands. One hand was clasped around the handle of the gun, finger on the trigger, whilst her other hand cupped the butt off the gun, wrapping her fingers around her hand for better aim, something her father had taught her. Annie didn't even want to do gun training at first, but her father had told her to do it, meaning she'd increase her Slayer skills. In truth, Annie couldn't care less about her skills, as long as she knew how to fight, she felt okay with her skills. But no, her parents pushed her, trying to make her one of the better Slayers here. She didn't want that title, in fact, sometimes she wished she wasn't even a Slayer, but they were just wishes. And it would never come true, not without shaming her family and herself, and she didn't want that to happen, for her families sake and her own.
When the targets went down, Annie sighed and started to reload her gun a little, only then noticing the extra shots. She looked through the clear walls of each booth and saw someone shooting near by. From the looks of it, it was that guy she'd seen a few times in the hallway, Matt something. Annie raised one eyebrow and paused in the action of sliding her clip back into place to watch him. He acted like he'd never even held a gun, not that Annie minded. Some people here didn't use guns, they found them dangerious and noisy. Annie found them noisy and dangerous, but she'd never let her father on about this.
Annie sighed again and turned back to her gun, ramming the clip back into place, suddenly a little angry. Damn her father for making her do stuff she didn't want to. So what that she was born into a family of Slayers? Shouldn't she get the choice whether she wanted to be a Slayer or not? No! Her parents forced her to do something she didn't want to! She groaned in frustration and slammed her gun down on the table in front of her, looking at the second gun next to it and the three empty clips and the two full ones. She sighed and suddenly felt embarrased at her suddern out burst.
I shouldn't let this get to me, she thought, picking the gun up again and sighing. What's done is done, I'm a Slayer, and always will be.

Matt looked through the see-through walls. he saw a girl, she was pretty, he'd seen her sometimes jus walking through the halls, he didn't remember her name, he never really bothers to try with other people. People, especially slayers meant danger to Matt now. He couldn't get close to people, they could find out who he really was. So he kept himself to himself.
He only even came in here because of the whole stake out with Charlie, he had to practice so then they wouldn't laugh at him. Plus it made him look less suspicious if he did things the others did.. He heard a slight noise come from her booth, he looked over and noticed she'd slammed her gun down onto the table. He took of his glasses and headphones, And walked out of his booth, and over to hers. He waited just outside being quiet. He didn't know what to say, he didn't want to look like an idiot. He thought for a moment, just staring at her. She really was pretty. He looked away again, not wanting to look like a complete weirdo.
He stepped closer and took a deep breath. He placed a hand on her shoulder. Excuse me, I couldn't help but notice you slam you're gun down on the table. Are you okay? He hoped she wouldn't grab the gun and shoot him, in case he'd scared her.

”The light in darkness, Breathing hope of new Life!”--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------========================== Annie nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard him speak and felt his hand on her shoulder, she hadn't even realised he'd moved from his booth. She turned around to face him and smiled, seeing he was sort of cute, well, more than sort of. She pulled off her goggles and earphones and set them down with her gun on the table. She brushed her fringe out of her face and shrugged at his comment.
"I missed a target," she lied, not really wanting to share her thoughts with this man. She didn't even know him, apart from a name she couldn't even tell if it was right. She sighed a little and looked back at her targets quickly, noticing that there were several holes each in each paper person at the other end of the shooting range. Okay, so maybe that wasn't the best of lies she could of come up with, but she was still a little angry because of her father. She always got like this when she thought about the decisions that had been made for her when even when she was just a blob in her mothers stomach. Shouldn't she - or indeed anyone else in this place - get a choice to whether they want to be a Slayer or not? And could walk away without putting shame of hers - or anyone elses - families?
We should, she though, turning back to the man and smiling a little. Damn he's cute.
"My aims off a little bit lately," she told him. "There's been a lot of stuff on my mind and I just can't concentrate."

Matt looked at the target and chuckled You missed? That's one hell of a miss. He grinned at her. He couldn't actually believe he was talking to her. Most times he'd try to avoid talking to girls, he was such a nerd when it came down to talking to them, usually he'd just stutter and end up walking away. But not this time. "There's been a lot of stuff on my mind and I just can't concentrate." You can tell me what's up if you want. I usually play the role of Jeremy Kyle to other people anyway He avoided saying the word friends, as in truth, he didn't really have many. He could count on all of one hand how many friends he had. Charlie. That was one. But could you really count Charlie as a friend. I guess you could in some aspects. I know, that sounds totally weird, 'cause you don't know me. I promise you, I'm not a creepy stalkery weirdo. I'm just a nice almost normal person he smiled softly. He held out his hand for her to shake My names Matt Dingle by the way.

”The light in darkness, Breathing hope of new Life!”--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------=========================== "You missed? That's one hell of a miss."
Annie blushed when he said that and chuckled, truth was, she hardly missed, only when she was really distracted, or aiming from a wrong angle, other than that, she never missed. Her parents were proud of her for that, but Annie wasn't proud of herself. How could you be proud of yourself when you had a perfect killing aim? She'd asked her parents that, but they'd ended up giving her a lecture on why it was a good thing, not even bothering to explain if it was bad or not. That's why Annie hated her parents. She thought about running away more then once but had decided against it. She had some friends here - not many - and didn't want to leave them behind.
"You can tell me what's up if you want. I usually play the role of Jeremy Kyle to other people anyway." It was Annie's turn to laugh. She hadn't expected him to say that! She smiled at him. As much as she wanted to tell him, she couldn't. She didn't know this man, he could run off to her parents and tell them what she had said, meaning her parents would be ashamed of her. And that was the last thing she needed, even though she hated them, she didn't want them to be ashamed of her. She sighed, the classic thing with the children of people, the children don't want the parents to be ashamed of them. Annie wanted her parents to be proud of her, but she'd never wanted them to be proud of her on her killing skills. How could any parent be proud of that?! "I know, that sounds totally weird, 'cause you don't know me. I promise you, I'm not a creepy stalkery weirdo. I'm just a nice person. My names Matt Dingle by the way." Annie smiled at him again and shook his hand. "My names Annie."She leaned against the table behind her then, the palms of her hands digging into her palms. If Matt knew Annie - which she was sure he didn't, since he didn't know her name - then he would have spotted this is what Annie would do when she was embarrased. She looked up at his face. "Its nothing, just some family problems, you know?" she told him. "They're being... parents, I guess."She sighed again and looked at her trainers.[/blockquote]

Matt chuckled Ahh Parent issues. I hate my Mum, I don't know who my Dad is, but I hate him with a passion too. he looked away and then back at her I never really wanted to be a slayer, but due to my grandparents and my mum, I eventually became one. He sighed
Alarm bells began to ring in his head Oh crap! Why did I just tell her that?!
My Brother on the other hand loves it here, he's John Dingle. The worlds biggest asshole He laughed, god he hated his brother, but his brother probably hated Matt more. John Didn't know about Matt's secret, he just wasn't the same as everyone else and that's all he knew.
But if it wasn't for them, I think I would become an English teacher or something, it's a much safer job
(LOL I didn't know what to put, it's probs my worst post ever!

”The light in darkness, Breathing hope of new Life!”--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------=========================== "Ahh Parent issues. I hate my Mum, I don't know who my Dad is, but I hate him with a passion too."
Annie nodded, knowing the feeling. Her parents pushed her too hard, way too hard, and made her do stuff she didn't want to.
"Yeah, I know the feeling. I feel mean when I say that I hate my parents, but they push me too hard."
Annie sighed and thought about her parents, she hardly ever saw them, only because everytime she did seen when she was bombarded with questions on how her training was going and how many vampires she'd killed. Never any questions about her, how her life was going, if she had a boyfriend or such forth. Annie guessed her parents only cared about her being a slayer, and never their child. She wondered sometimes if she was even wanted, like her mother got knocked up up accident. Maybe she wasn't wanted, that's why he parents never asked about her or how her life was going.
"I never really wanted to be a slayer, but due to my grandparents and my mum, I eventually became one."
Annie looked at him gobsmacked. So she wasn't the only one who didn't like what she was. She'd always wondered if there were other people here who hated being a slayer, she'd looked at the other Slayers and seen how devoted their work was and guessed that they liked being a slayer. But Matt hated being one too. That was new. He looked like he'd be the complete opposite, a person who loved shooting the bad guys and getting into fights with them. She sighed again, maybe he was pulling her chain, but the expression on his face made her think that he'd let on a little more than he'd ment to.
"I hate being a slayer too, its only because my parents are slayers that I am one. I never wantd to be a Slayer, but they made me one."
Now it was Annie's turn to turn to stone. Why had she told him that? She was sure he was about to run to her parents and tell her what she'd said, if he did, that would be the end for her! She gripped the edge of the table with her hands so hard they dug into her skin and began to hurt. She dropped them from the table and looked at the welts in the palms of her hands. She stretched her hands so the skin returned to its normal position, only it was a little red. She looked up at Matt's face.
"My Brother on the other hand loves it here, he's John Dingle. The worlds biggest asshole."
Annie laughed at this statment. That was the last thing she thought he'd say about his brother. Annie was an only child, meaning she didn't have a brother or sister, although she'd love to have a brother or sister, but her parents had stopped at her. They complained that babies cost too much and they threw to many tantrums. She sighed, as a child she'd been brought up by only one parent, her mother, her father had spent all his time being a Slayer, which her mother hated, because she had to stay home and look after Annie, another thing that made Annie think she wasn't wanted.
"But if it wasn't for them, I think I would become an English teacher or something, it's a much safer job."
Annie laughed again, she liked Matt. He was funny. And good looking from what she could see. She slyly took a look at his body quickly and then back up to his face. She secretly at the back of her head wondered if he was single.
"Are you serious? And English teacher is a safe job? Not with all those kids around, they eat teachers alive!"
She grinned at him. As a younger child, she'd been a little naughty - not that you'd think that, because of what she is now - and had caused some trouble at school, but it was only to get attention from her parents. When she hit twelve, they had paid less and less attetion to her, up until she'd started training to be a slayer at the age of fifteen. Then they paid her a lot of attention, but not the attention she wanted. They told her how to train and stuff, when in truth, she just wanted to be one of those families that sit around a dinner table and the parents ask the kids what they had done at school. But she'd never get a family like that, not whilst vampires and werewolves still existed. She sighed again.

My mum's a stuck up cow, she treated my brother better than she did me. And My family are all ex-slayers so, they didn't understand me, while John asked for toy guns I'd ask for books, so they all thought I was weird that made Matt feel really sad, he never meant to be such a freak, he just turned out that way.
Matt let out a sigh of relief when she said she didn't like being a slayer either, that meant he was safe from the ridicule of other people. Truth is, this is my first proper time in here, I thought I'd get a few practice shots in before my next shift….. In other words I'm a really crap slayer and my killing rate is incredibly low. he shrugged everyone knew that he was rubbish and he hadn't killed anything in a long while, or at all really.
He was glad he could make her laugh, that was proof he wasn't doing such a bad job talking to her. "Are you serious? And English teacher is a safe job? Not with all those kids around, they eat teachers alive!" Well, they's eat me on sight anyway, I don't have much confidence to be honest. But English has always just been my thing, I love books, what can I say he smiled

”The light in darkness, Breathing hope of new Life!”--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------=========================== "My mum's a stuck up cow, she treated my brother better than she did me. And My family are all ex-slayers so, they didn't understand me, while John asked for toy guns I'd ask for books, so they all thought I was weird."
Annie felt sorry a little for Matt, she knew what it was like to have a mother who annoyed her. Must have been hard on him as a kid. She put her hand on his shoulder, not totally meaning to. It was something she always did, sometimes it helped people, or so she'd been told.
"I don't think you're weird, at least you got asked what you wanted, my parents bought me stuff they thought I'd like, like books on fighting and using guns."
She sighed, it was totally true. When she was six, she'd ran up to her parents a few weeks before her birthday and asked them for a Barbie doll to play with, since her parents didn't like her having children as friends when she was older. They just nodded at her, probably not even hearing her, and when her birthday had come, she'd opened her parents to find books on karate inside. She didn't say anything, only acted happy. She'd only read the books when her parents had told her too, any other time, they sat on her book shelf and sometimes she would have uses them to reach stuff on high shelves.
"Truth is, this is my first proper time in here, I thought I'd get a few practice shots in before my next shift….. In other words I'm a really crap slayer and my killing rate is incredibly low."
That was a shock to Annie, she'd thought that he was the sort of person that spent most of their time in here, training their asses off, like she did, when her parents told her. Annie barely got any spare time, her parents were always calling her and telling her to train. They weren't even near her but yet they were still controlling her life. What was wrong with her? Why couldn't she stand up to her parents and say no? Whenever she thought about saying no, she always chickened out, not wanting to cause an argument. Annie hated arguments, and tried to reframe from starting any or getting involved with any.
"Well, to tell you the truth, I only come in here because my parents tell me too. I try to stay away from here, guns scare me a little. They're too dangerous."
"Well, they’d eat me on sight anyway, I don't have much confidence to be honest. But English has always just been my thing, I love books, what can I say."
Annie smiled, so someone else enjoyed her love for books, most of the people here that she knew didn't like books that she did, said they were too long and that they'd rather be out there, killing the bad guys. Personally, Annie loved a good book more than her job, well, she loved anything else more than her job, but what could she do? Nothing, she couldn't do anything without upsetting her parents, something that she didn't want to do. She hated it when her parents were upset with her, but that was only when she wasn't at the standards they wanted her at, which was quite high, maybe too high for Annie.
"I'm guessing you like reading then. I love reading, and personally, I'd rather do any job than what I'm doing now, even if that meant I had to face a class of children each day."
Annie laughed again before blushing deeply and looking at her shoes.
"But, don't tell my parents I said that, okay?"
She looked at his cute face again, her eyes pleading.

They didn’t even ask you? Ouch, that's harsh, they always knew that I wanted books, it stopped annoying them after my tenth birthday and they finally got used to it. But er, well, at least that's someone who doesn't think I'm weird He looked at Annie's hand on his shoulder and smiled, but he didn't want her to feel sorry for him, he turned out to be a good person didn't he? He thought he had anyway.
"Well, to tell you the truth, I only come in here because my parents tell me too. I try to stay away from here, guns scare me a little. They're too dangerous." Matt laughed slightly Yeah, I know what you mean, I always think I'll just accidentally shoot myself, that wouldn't exactly be a good way to go. Matt often dreamed of shooting himself accidentally and dying, he also dreamed of rabbits chasing after him because he was dressed like a giant carrot. Matt pushed his thoughts to the back of his mind trying his best not to laugh at his stupid dreams.
"I'm guessing you like reading then. I love reading, and personally, I'd rather do any job than what I'm doing now, even if that meant I had to face a class of children each day." I love reading I prefer classical books to all these modern ones though. Matt laughed this girl was really something, she could become a really good friend.
."But, don't tell my parents I said that, okay?"
Matt shook his head I wouldn’t dream of it.

”The light in darkness, Breathing hope of new Life!”--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------=========================== "They didn’t even ask you? Ouch, that's harsh, they always knew that I wanted books, it stopped annoying them after my tenth birthday and they finally got used to it. But er, well, at least that's someone who doesn't think I'm weird."
Annie laughed. Her parents asking her what she wanted? Impossible.
"My parents never ask me, they asume that I want those things, one day I'm going to shock them!"
She laughed again, realising that she probably never would. She was too chicken with her parents, any other person, she'd happily shock them for the fun of it, but with her parents.... not a chance. They'd eat her alive!
"Yeah, I know what you mean, I always think I'll just accidentally shoot myself, that wouldn't exactly be a good way to go."
Annie laughed at him. She'd often thought of what would happen if she shot herself, well, she'd be in a lot of pain and everyone would laugh at her, not something she wanted. She looked at the gun near her left hand and smiled a little before looking at her face.
"I think I'm going to do that all the time," Annie told him. "I've even shot the table and floor on several occasions where I haven't put the safety on."
Annie blushed again, she wasn't exactly proud of shooting the table, in fact, each time she'd done it - and that was only three times - she'd put the gun down and run out of the range, embarrased to have done it - even more embarrased when she did it the second and third time - and have acted like she hadn't been in there when the shot had been fired. But when the CCTV had been looked at, they'd seen her. She'd apoligized, of course, but the whole base had found out about it, and for months afterwards, they wouldn't give up on it.
"I love reading I prefer classical books to all these modern ones though."
Annie smiled at him again, she was liking Matt more and more by the minute.
"Yeah, the classic's are awesome. I also love thrillers and suspence novels, they're my favourite."
She loved to read suspence novels, they were the sort of books she couldn't put down, not ever, she'd often be seen sat eating her dinner on her own with a book in one hand, a fork in the other. But after about five minutes of trying to eat and hold a book, she'd put the book down and eat her dinner quickly before returning to it. She loved to read, when she was a kid, her favourite past time, when she was a kid, the few friends her parents allowed her to have brought her books they thought she'd like, normal books, not books that told you how to break a neck in until five seconds.
"I wouldn't dream of it."
"Thanks, if my parents found out I didn't want to be a slayer, then they'd be ashamed of me, and I don't want that."

Matt felt bad for Annie, it seemed like as she was growing up, she was never allowed to be what she wanted, and always having to live up to her parents expectations. He got the whole parent thing, his mum was a total bitch, but, growing up, he always had a little bit of freedom, it may not have been much, but it was still there.
Matt blushed a little when she laughed at his thought of him shooting himself. It was always something he took seriously, and he'd never told anyone that before. He did feel better when she said she felt the same way, at least he wasn't the only one, she'd shot tables before, Matt hasn't even done that before, due to the fact he'd alway been afraid of them.
Yeah, thrillers are awesome, but the author just has to get the level of suspense and tension just right, otherwise I just find them boring. he smiled at her, they really did have quite a bit in common.
"Thanks, if my parents found out I didn't want to be a slayer, then they'd be ashamed of me, and I don't want that."
I know exacly how you feel, my brother would most likely beat me to death if he found that out about me. He grimaced at he thought So erm, please don't tell my mum or brother. He smiled sweetly

”The light in darkness, Breathing hope of new Life!”-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- Annie caught Matt's blush when she told him about her shooting skills and grinned. At least someone here apart from her did that, all the other girls were too buried under make-up and the men didn't even know how to blush. Annie was glad that Matt had some sort of embarrassment in there, all the men here seems to lock away their emotions, apart from rage and their joy for killing. It really annoyed her sometimes, if the men here were a little more in tune with their emotions, then she might have found a boyfriend by now, even though she didn’t want to, with this job, she couldn’t even keep her cat. She’d had to give her cat away after three weeks of struggling to keep an eye on it and feed it, she’d been forced to train too much by her parents, another thing she hated them for. Her cat had been a personal friend, and she’d been unhappy to get rid of it.
” Yeah, thrillers are awesome, but the author just has to get the level of suspense and tension just right, otherwise I just find them boring.”
Annie nodded, knowing the feeling. Sometimes authors couldn’t be it right, and they gave away too much at the wrong times and gave away too little at other times, ruining the books. Sometimes, Annie had gotten have way through a book before she’d guessed who it was. She stayed reading it, but had been disappointed to find out that her guess was right.
”Yeah, I know, sometimes I always guess what’s going to happen and who did it before I even get half way through the book.”
” I know exacly how you feel, my brother would most likely beat me to death if he found that out about me. So erm, please don't tell my mum or brother.”
